LETTERS – It’s simply not good enough

It is at this time of year that our thoughts turn to all the men and women that gave so much for our freedom.

So it saddens me to see that so many people are prepared to give so little in return.

Having walked to Ayscoughfee on Sunday afternoon to pay my respects to the fallen I was struck by the total lack of people not wearing a poppy. People of all ages I have to say, even around the memorial itself.

Having no poppy sellers around the town because of COVID is absolutely no excuse for this lack of respect; poppies are freely available in supermarkets.

Again, it saddens me deeply that people are not wiling to make an effort and respect those who gave so much. It is simply not good enough.

Lest we forget.
