LETTERS – Issues of longer routes

South Holland District Council are short of drivers because they increased working hours. (Re last week’s article ‘Not Enough Bin Drivers).

The job was always finish your route and go home, then they took lorries off routes making the fleet smaller.
More houses have been built but yet there’s still not more lorries.

I worked as a loader for Blue Arrow agency at Spalding. I did this for nearly ten years. I saw routes get bigger.

It’s not a nice job, but people were willing to do it for early finishes. That has now gone.

They messed it up for themselves and I have no sympathy.
