LETTERS – Images from the 1947 flower parade

I was sorting through some of my late father’s stuff, and came across this photograph, which given the renewed interest in the flower parade, I thought may be of interest to you.
I believe my father was working for a Dutchman called Jac Amand at the time, so I would think it was a publicity stunt by him.
Many would probably remember the Jac Amand premises on the Washway Road, next to Bill Paynes cafe, (picture attached) although that is obviously not where the photo was taken.
I am sure someone will recognise the buildings in the flower parade photo.
As a matter of interest, the people in the J. Amand picture are, from left, Rosie Limming, Annie Limming, Mrs. Willie (Willy?) Jacquie Limming and peaking over the tulip display, a very young me!
