LETTERS – How can bin bags cost extra?

Regarding Coun Tyrrell’s article in The Voice on August 29 on waste services – he seems to be inferring that it will only cost extra by continuing with bin bags!
Does he not realise that the extra cost will be the production of thousands of wheelie bins, plus their replacements due to being broken or damaged?!
Then there’s the refitting of all the refuse lorries.
Also, potential accident claims from the public being unable to pass these bins on our many narrow pavements, causing them to move into the road.
His comments imply that he’s already made his mind up, so why bother with the survey?
As our bin bags are already in existence, there are no further production monies required. So how can it cost extra?
