LETTERS – Five days’ notice for a swim?

At almost 70 I decided it was time to shed a few pounds and get fit.
I have always enjoyed swimming and with a pool a ten-minute walk away I thought it a good place to start.
I hadn’t used the pool since COVID so visited their website.
I sent an enquiry asking about pricing etc and two weeks on I have not received a reply. I called in yesterday only to be told unless I signed up for membership I had to give five days’ notice to swim. Why? Nobody knows. It’s time to put COVID behind us and get back to normal.
Whatever happened to spontaneity?
