LETTERS – First look at the empty shops

Before money is spent on any improvement to the town centre should South Holland District Council not start looking at the empty shops which require filling with retailers? This I’m sure will help to bring footfall into the town. Reduce rent, rates etc, not just talk, do something about it!

What is there now left to entice people? Nothing! The empty shops all look run down. Why has it come to this? Bad management? No past investment? Springfields? Look at the shops that have been lost, Beales, M&Co, M&S you can go on forever.

Spalding use to be a thriving town, now what has it got to offer?

I use to enjoy going into the centre, the market, seeing old faces walking about, shopping, now it’s go in and get out.

The shops that are left are working hard to survive, we don’t want to lose them as well.

SHDC don’t put a plaster over a broken leg, fix the broken leg.
