LETTERS – Did town benches need to go?

Reading in your paper last week that South Holland District Council is over £67,000 in debt, I was in Spalding Holland Market watching two men taking the chatty bench and the other out and replacing them with new ones.

I have sat on those old ones mostly on a Tuesday and have to wonder why? As far as I was concerned nothing wrong with them.

Reminding the council this is our money being spent, whom I might ask has ordered this spending, which I bet was not cheap.

If the council is in so much debt why waste, again I say, our council tax money on this?

The workers had ripped the old ones out in pieces so they will be sent to the scrap.
