LETTERS – Christmas Day opening

I have just found out that our village shop is going to be open on Christmas Day for the first time ever in its long history.
It went from a private family-owned shop to McColls, who wanted to open Christmas Day but the church asked them not to and out of respect the store honoured the wish.
Now Morrisons own the store and are planning to open until 3pm on Christmas Day. Just because it’s a convenience, it doesn’t mean it’s compulsory.
The poor staff have to give up this special day and the peace of our small village Gedney Hill will also suffer.
Keep it a day of family, reflection, love and fun , not money.
Kind regards and a very merry Christmas to all, even Morrisons.
