LETTERS – Check cables

I write warning following my recent experiences.

In my walks around Fleet Hargate, I indulge in harvesting extra long cables from appliances destined for rubbish collection.

The harvested cables are used to make extension leads.

The appliances have no doubt been discarded as they were deemed to be faulty. However my recent experiences of harvesting cables has shown that the cables were faulty.

I have had three recent examples of such faults.

So, if you believe your appliance is faulty after changing fuses etc, it might be worthwhile investigating the cable.

The breaks in the cable are not visible. You could be discarding an expensive appliance that is in good working order.

Good luck.
