LETTERS – Brexit Party is not the answer

I appeal to your readers to proceed with caution rather than reaching out towards The Brexit Party.

I understand the frustration that, three years on, Westminster has still not implemented the result of the EU referendum and the farce of the recent EU elections; which were an appalling waste of resources and funds.

However, the Brexit Party is a private company, not a political party and does not offer a manifesto i.e. a publicly declared clear and transparent list of its policies and aims. This in itself should raise alarm. Surely it is foolish to opt for this “pig in a poke” transaction.

After Brexit we need to rebuild our nation and we need a party with sound policies to reverse austerity, improve infrastructure, protect our jobs, keep our NHS, free at the point of use, improve social care, provide our children and grandchildren with education and maintain decent food standards at the very least.

The Brexit party has no discernible policies though their leader, Nigel Farage, has reportedly stated that he will sell off the NHS. This dreadful idea ought to spark concern amongst our community and help us to seek out a genuine political party that will improve our lot rather than steal our NHS and thereby our peace of mind.
