LETTERS – Angry over council tax refund

I am writing to express my disgust and anger at SHDC’s failure to refund £150 from council tax that we are entitled to and already paid in April to people who pay by direct debit.

We paid our council tax in full at the beginning of the fiscal year.

I have made enquiries by phone several times and been given a load of unacceptable excuses and also been into the office to give my DD details. Even though there were four women in the reception area doing very little as far as I could see, there was nobody I could give the info to and they didn’t want it anyway.

In an effort to get things moving I spoke to John Hayes’ office who informed me that we are not the only people waiting for our money to be returned and that councils had been given until September to do the decent thing. So why didn’t the man I spoke to in the first place tell the truth?

In future we will not be paying up front.
