LETTER: Why would you vote for Parsons?

As a likely UKIP voter, I decided to Google our local candidate David Parsons.

I was shocked to read of the widely reported misdemeanours whilst he was leader of Leicestershire County Council: questionable financial dealings and travel expenses – according to the local press, matters that resulted in him being forced to quit and then subsequently facing a police enquiry.

Further delving led me to uncover reports from the council’s standards committee, which says, in black and white, that Mr Parsons disregarded four key principles of public life – honesty, integrity, accountability and leadership – by keeping thousands of pounds of the council’s money in his personal bank account.

I, for one, shall certainly not be voting UKIP now.

My question is this: why does Mr Parsons think people in our area would possibly choose to vote for someone with such a tarnished past?
