LETTER: Why were homes refused?

After reading about the refusal for building much needed homes in Little London, Spalding, (The Voice, Feb 19) I am left in wonder.

Wonder at how councillors can refuse when experienced planning officers see that the homes are quite appropriate for the area.

How can the councillors say it will become a slum?

That is pure supposition, as is the fact there will be refuse all over, there already is refuse lying all over the SHDC area.

Maybe some houses could be buy to let (more supposition) but these are also much needed in the area, and if these people work shifts at least they are working, or is the council concerned they will be rented by foreigners as these are the most likely to be doing this type of work?

I thought a chairman’s job was to summarise, not tell the council what to say and that was the impression given at the meeting.
