LETTER: Why the early rubbish collections?

What are South Holland District Council up to with their latest notification that refuse collections are to commence at 6am, yes 6am.

Given South Holland is hardly a metropolitan area is it really necessary for such an early start in what will be mostly residential roads?

These large road vehicles and the associated collections are hardly quiet affairs so why do the council find it necessary to impose additional noise on its residents (even customers) at such an unacceptable early time.

One wonders if this is simply another opportunity for refuse collectors to finish even earlier than they apparently already do.

What is wrong with refuse collections taking place between 7.30am and 5pm, the times when most people are up and about so they are not unduly disturbed?

Come on South Holland think of your customers given they pay the charges for these services.
