LETTER: What benefits from plans?

In your article about KFC and Taco Bell, the application submission demonstrates that there will be “environmental benefits” of the proposed development. How so?
Concreting over prime agricultural land will ensure any rain, instead of being absorbed by the soil and released slowly over time, will be piped away quickly thus increasing the likelihood of flash flooding further down the system.
Being sited out of town will encourage customers to drive to the site adding to air/noise pollution. Also driving as opposed to walking to a local outlet will not be so beneficial to physical well-being.
I imagine that after half a mile along the A16 of the proposal there will be discarded cartons which are bad for wildlife/environment.
