LETTER: Welcoming news on injury unit

It is excellent news that our successful local hospital is to keep its minor injuries unit: there was a concentrated response from county and District Councillors, our MP (as well as many local residents) vehemently opposing any loss of service. We will all keep on the alert!

On a personal note I should declare an interest! This has been the only year that I have needed medical intervention at the hospital. A fall and a fracture led to regular visits, and recently I have needed their services again.

On all occasions I have been impressed by the quiet efficiency and good humour of the staff (nervous nellies like me need sympathetic handling!)

I would like to reassure the staff at The Johnson Hospital that we will all watch for any backsliding on this vital matter, and thank them all for the excellent work they do for our residents.

Thank you to them all.
