LETTER: We will not be paying any fines

I read with interest the letter from J Tippler re parking fines in Spalding.
The attitude of the SHDC parking manager is outrageous. What exactly does SHDC assume its role to be here?
My mother, who is 82, recently drove herself to her six-weekly hairdresser’s appointment in Spalding and parked in the car park in The Crescent as usual. She paid the £1.50 fee but the machine didn’t give her a ticket. She left a note in her car that the machine was not working but still received a fine . We appealed but were told she had to pay.
To turn my mother’s trip into town from a highlight in her life to a major worry about whether she will be able to park her car without incurring a huge fine is unacceptable.
The town is dying, why punish people who use the businesses? I used this car park myself on Thursday and the machine again wasn’t working.
Our family will not be paying any more parking fines when we have tried our best to pay.
