LETTER: We have enough off-licences

I have read about the licensing application for the former China City premises in The Voice and would like to express my objections.

We already have more than enough off-licences in Spalding, and the town is becoming littered with empty alcohol bottles and cans.

I was born in Spalding and have lived here most of my life and I have never seen the town so dirty and neglected as it has become today.

I live along Winsover Road, which has become one of the dirtiest roads in Spalding.

It is overrun with foreign shops and I feel like a foreigner in my own town.

Each morning I collect empty beer cans and bottles thrown into my front garden.

There is a hedge running alongside my property and it is littered with vodka bottles, beer bottles and cans.

After a weekend I can fill a green recycling bag with them. I feel that enough is enough.

Ratepayers like myself should expect, and indeed deserve, better.

Please do not allow the town to be overrun any further with more off licenses.

How can you promote trade in the town, and be surprised when shoppers feel they need to go out of town to shop, if you continue to allow this to happen?
