LETTER: Town eyesores could be put to good use

The unused buildings in Spalding are a disgrace.

I have brought this subject up with my local councillor but no-one seems to have the answer as to what is happening with them. The response seems to be that these properties have been sold on and the owners can’t be traced.

This answer isn’t acceptable.

If rates have been collected for these buildings over the years they have been unused – after all this time it should be quite a large amount – the rate collectors should know where the money is coming from.

Also, planning permission and changes of use have been granted so perhaps the council should check its files.

There is a desperate shortage of housing and parking spaces in Spalding yet we have to put up with these empty eyesores.
