LETTER: This big county Lincolnshire really is beautiful

All of my dignitary events so far have been within a 30 mile radius of Spalding. This radius takes in places such as Peterborough, King’s Lynn and Wisbech.

The latest venture made me realise just how big and beautiful the county of Lincolnshire is.
My wife Christine and I were invited by the Mayor of the Borough of North East Lincolnshire, Coun Cliff Barber and Mayoress Mrs Sally Barber to a civic service on Sunday, September 27 at Grimsby Minster followed by a reception at Grimsby Town Hall.
We were only too delighted to accept.

It took nearly two hours to reach our destination and during the drive northwards along the A16 you soon began to realise how blessed we are to live in such a magnificent county called Lincolnshire.
We couldn’t have picked a better day to travel. The farmers’ fields had recently been harvested. As the sun shone down on the stubble fields, the air was filled with that autumnal musty smell of newly harvested fields and it made you feel content with your lot.
