LETTER: Thanks to all involved in election

During the May 2015 elections I was acting agent for our parliamentary candidate, Matthew Mahabadi.

Although this is seen as a voluntary role it also brings a high level of responsibility, during the campaign period and even after polling day.

I found the briefing session at the South Holland District Council offices very useful, which was facilitated by Rhonda Oldfield, Deputy Returning Officer.

Credit must go to Rhonda and her team for the excellent work that they carried out with the administration during the national and the district election campaign covering such a large constituency as South Holland and The Deepings.

Also, behind the scenes on the night of the count, was returning officer, Anna Graves, South Holland District Council chief executive, who had the main responsibility of overseeing the count at the Springfields Events Centre and reporting back the declaration at 4.40am on the Friday morning.

Special thanks has to go to all the election count staff, who like the candidates, had such a long night on May 7, 2015.

Although we must have had one of the smallest campaign teams I am proud of what we did on behalf of our party.

Congratulations to all who were successful and well done to those who stood on behalf of their local communities and made it all a very open and honest contest all round.

Best wishes to all concerned.
