LETTER: Sympathise with bus user’s complaints

I fully sympathise with your correspondent bemoaning the difficulties of getting to work by bus, and wish I knew the answer.

I also agree that an hourly service to Peterborough with curtailed services at weekends is seriously insufficient.

I serve as a district councillor and regularly use the bus services and am very grateful for my bus pass (as are some other councillors I believe).

For many elderly residents, many of whom do not own cars, the ability to get to Boston, Peterborough or King’s Lynn (and places in between) is a boon, and the bus pass has rightly been called a “freedom pass” in many areas.

Long may it survive.

Finally I must agree with your correspondent that there is a definite need for a crossing to allow safe access between Spalding Bus Station and Holland Park, and I will work with colleagues to see if this can be achieved.
