LETTER: Station an officer in Bridge Road, Sutton Bridge

I read that Lincolnshire Police are aiming to raise money from the council tax we pay.

May I suggest that if they want more money they station an officer with a speed gun in Bridge Road, Sutton Bridge at or near the zebra crossing outside the local school.

This was promised not only by the police but our councillor who seems to be more interested in railway crossings than in the road where he lives.

I have reported the three occasions where I have been halfway across the zebra crossing, which I use each morning in the two years I have lived here, when vehicles have gone round me at speed instead of stopping.

When a policeman sat there he told me he had witnessed the same thing happening, but to date nothing is done.

I know of a lady who has reported an incident where her grandchildren had to be pulled from the crossing because of a car that, because of the speed it was travelling, could not stop.

Are the police and councillor waiting for someone to be killed before action is taken?
