LETTER: Speed is also a problem

I read with interest your article in The Voice regarding noise from LFP, and as I live in Churchgate it is not only the noise that is the problem but also the speed of some of the farm vehicles.

We are often woken at 6am by tractors and the very large tracked vehicles actually shake the house.

Although they may not be exceeding the speed limit they are often travelling very fast especially if towing a large full trailer possibly weighing in excess of 20 tons.

There does not seem to be any respect for residents and every year they manage to chew up all the grass verges in Millgate and the island at the junction of Cobgate and Churchgate.

At the moment it seems to be the sprayers’ turn to see who can complete the most trips in an hour!

All we have ever asked is that they drive slower until out of the village instead of behaving like boy racers. I have spoken to somebody who works at LFP who replied: “It is not us, it is other farmers.”

If they did slow down a bit common sense says there is less noise and perhaps I will not find another 60ft skid mark outside my property.
