LETTER: Spalding needs a better bus service

After being unemployed for nearly two years, I have managed to get a job in Peterborough – yippee! – no! – as it’s working weekends I am unable to take the job.

We live in the 21st century but in Spalding it’s still the dark ages unless you own a car.

I rely on public transport (buses) as a lot of people do in this area.

The 37 bus is not fit or good enough for this area.

We have no bus leaving Peterborough on Saturday before 8.55am, arriving in Spalding 10.04am or at 11.50am.

On Saturday the bus from Spalding to Peterborough leaves at 9.10am arriving 10.19am and on Sunday it leaves Spalding at 9.35am, arriving in Peterborough at 10.44am.

At night the last bus from Peterborough is 6.25pm.

Crowland has the same bus but a better service as the bus either starts or ends at Crowland. Why doesn’t the bus do the full journey? What has Crowland got that we haven’t?

How can Spalding promote itself as an up and coming town with a bus service like this.

Also, we need a crossing between Spalding bus station and Holland Market.

Do any of the councillors ever use the buses we are forced to use?
