LETTER: Singing Angela’s praises

I notice that you are publishing several letters saying what a good chap John Hayes is.

Well I would like to join in by singing the praises of my local councillor Angela Newton.

Coun Newton is always doing things for people in the ward.

She delivers regular newsletters, she takes up all issues that are referred to her and nothing is too much trouble.

Angela also is a great support to me in my capacity as Spalding organiser of the Voluntary Car Service. In addition to doing lots of running around she is also a valued driver.

And who do you see in town on Sunday mornings picking up litter and removing weeds from gutters and flower beds? Angela Newton.

And let’s not forget, Angela was one of the main campaigners for us to get a new hospital.

We remember the powers that be were intent on closing the old Johnson Hospital and were not building a replacement for Spalding and district.

Angela, the late John Williams and the Spalding Hospital League of Friends campaigned tirelessly and vigorously, not taking no for an answer, until they were involved in the planning of our new Johnson Community Hospital.

To my knowledge there has been nobody who works harder for their ward, Spalding and district over the past 40 years than Angela.
