Whilst independent councillors kept their heads down over the proposed Sutton Bridge incinerator, Conservative campaigner Shirley put up her own money to fight the big battalions.
Whose help did her money buy?
None other than Justine Thornton (Mrs Ed Miliband) – yes, the Labour leader’s barrister wife!
Where were the independents hiding, Mr Brewis, whilst Conservative Shirley and Labour’s Justine were working together?
Most surprising of all is that the UKIP candidate didn’t turn up and try to take credit – as he unsuccessfully attempted with the Deeping St James signal box before being quickly rumbled by local people!
