LETTER: Secure your heating oil tanks

Yesterday a heating oil price quote came in at 97p per litre.
Today, from the same supplier, the quote is 105p per litre. That’s an eight per cent increase in 24 hours.
Here in rural Lincolnshire thousands of domestic customers, but also farmers, schools and care homes depend on heating oil for heating and hot water.
Both the local council and central government will have to address this price gouging urgently, as people already on the poverty line will not be able to afford any heating.
Also, when oil is so extraordinarily expensive, oil theft goes up as thieves see a gold mine just sitting there, often unattended throughout the day.
Let residents know that they should ensure utmost security of access to their fuel tanks.
