LETTER: Racist groups far more active

About 14 years ago, there was a serious problem with racist attacks in south Kent (Dover, Deal, and Folkestone) area, and the Isle of Thanet.

These were being committed against people perceived as being asylum seekers or refugees, and were largely orchestrated by the British National Party and the National Front.

Fast forward to the present, and we still have a problem with racist attacks, now happening across the country, and being orchestrated by groups such as the EDL (English Defence League) and Britain First, who even tried to get a paramilitary (terrorist) arm going, with support from members of UKIP.

Emboldened by the support of basically non-racist people, who are voting to leave the EU because the Vote Leave campaign are giving them someone else to blame (the EU) for the country’s problems (sound familiar?), these racist groups have become far more dangerously active recently, in the belief that they have duped people into voting to leave the EU, which would allow them to guide the UK toward becoming a racist, isolationist state.

I truly hope the British people will prove them wrong.
