LETTER: Putin was going to attack

I would like to ask the so called leaders of the West to stop repeating their chant that Russia is going to attack Ukraine anytime soon.
It was getting boring listening to them chanting the same mantra every day.
Doing so simply bolsters Putin’s hand as he knows everyone was guessing – will he? Won’t he? It makes him look important and in control.
We all know he was waiting for China’s Winter Olympics to finish before he started his offensive. Think about it – you do not amass thousands of troops around Ukraine’s borders and then simply call them back.
The answer was obvious – he will eventually attack Ukraine. He would lose face not to. He would be perceived to be weak or afraid of the threatened sanctions if he did not. His macho ego cannot allow that to happen.
Unless the western leaders have something new to say, can they please butt out and keep quiet.
The leaders in Ukraine are also asking them to button it.
What will be will be.
