LETTER: Over 50 groups at local U3A

In response to your reader’s letter concerning loneliness.

I am currently vice chair of Spalding U3A and before that I was chair for three years.

We have over 50 interest groups and I am group leader of three, including a dancing group, which is held at Pinchbeck Library Hub.

I actually cycle there as I live in Spalding, but it is walkable and also served by a good bus route.

When people join groups they often make new friends and then arrange to share lifts etc.

The ethos of the U3A is to enable people with shared interests to learn and enjoy life.

We don’t teach as such, it is shared learning.

If anyone would like more information about the U3A please check out our website www.u3asites.org.uk/spalding
