LETTER: Never had a reason to complain about Spalding festival

We were most perturbed to read your article heading “Council objects to town festival”.

The Environmental Health department were concerned that there was potential for a noise nuisance from the live music on an outdoor stage which could lead to complaints from nearby properties.

As residents of a property which borders Castle Playing Field, we can confirm that we have never been disturbed by the music in the four previous years and congratulate Spalding Round Table on their careful planning and tight control of the event.

We contacted the council immediately prior to the council meeting and were pleased to receive confirmation from our local councillor that permission was given for the festival to go ahead.
