How curious that UKIP’s Mr Foyster did not think to check his facts before sending his recent inaccurate letter, sadly published by the Spalding Voice.
It turns out the comparison between the two photographs which shows a full and empty House of Commons is based on a complete fallacy!
The picture he captioned ‘MPs debate their own wage’ was from a weekly Prime Minister’s Questions session – nothing to do with MPs wages at all!
The other image, which falsely suggested a debate on the living wage attracted few MPs, fails to take into account that MPs pop in and out of debates all the time – debates that last several hours.
These fantasy images apparently originated on an extremist website.
So either Mr Foyster was duped – which says very little for his judgement – or he was trying to dupe the paper and the public.
I note that the editor of the Voice has correctly pointed out that these images were false; perhaps UKIP’s Mr Foyster might like to take this chance to apologise too?
I think he owes your paper and the people of South Holland a full and frank admission and apology.
