LETTER: Miracle on the A17

A “minor miracle” occurred just the other day on the A17, east bound, from the Holbeach roundabout.

As I joined the lengthy queue of vehicles crawling along at 10mph behind a slow-moving tractor, the traffic suddenly started to make good progress.

I could see that up ahead said tractor had actually pulled into a lay-by to enable vehicles to pass. I’m confident that such an occurrence has not happened around here since about 1995!

To this young driver I would warn that such a good mannered and polite attitude will not be tolerated by the rest of the farming community around here.

If it continues, they will probably see you as some sort of oddball misfit who is rebelling against the grain.

Has your mentor not informed you yet that farm tractors and their drivers are above the law when it comes to the road traffic act in South Holland.

Here’s to you and congratulations, young man, but please, don’t do it again, it confuses everybody.
