LETTER: Lack of respect for the fallen?

I happened to be in the town centre near Boots at 11am on November 11 and was delighted to see the whole area in silence and everyone stood still when the clock chimed.

Others who walked into the area soon followed the majority except, sadly, a few non-English people just kept talking and walking through.

At the end of the silence everyone quickly went about their business and as I walked past William Hill bookmakers I saw Rodney Grocock – vice-chairman of South Holland District Council sat at a machine talking to someone else.

Now I cannot say he was gambling during the silence, but to show so little respect by being there at such a time in his position is baffling.
