LETTER: It’s now safer at night to walk on the road than the footpath

Once again the biggest issue comes up about the switching off of street lighting in Spalding!

May I remind the local council that the issue doesn’t finish in Spalding. You ought to send your officials into Donington after midnight especially around Chestnut Avenue/Ash Court etc. It is absolutely pitch black.

It is safer to walk home on the road than the footpath. Surely you could have used common sense and at least left just one streetlight on the corner of each junction? And the same applies for people who have to leave home before 6am.

This problem is widespread but the so-called powers to be who came up with the idea should get off their backsides and get out there in the hours of total blackouts.
