LETTER: Impeccable record

Nathan Murphy’s ad hominem attack on Sir John Hayes just goes to show the desperation of the Labour Party in being unable to defend either their clueless leadership or disastrous manifesto!

Sir John’s impeccable record as a tirelessly-working constituency MP speaks for itself.

During his time as our MP he has taken up over 25,000 individual cases on behalf of constituents; a few examples that bear testimony:

Using an Adjournment Debate to champion the cause of the young daughter of a constituent to have access to the first dedicated treatment for her rare condition (SPALDING VOICE: MP takes up treatment fight July 23, 2019).

As a patron of Headway, the brain injury charity, co-sponsoring a Commons debate on acquired brain injury (SPALDING VOICE: Inspiring to hear Sir John speak; May 21, 2019) and taking time out from campaigning to attend their Christmas craft fair in Spalding (November 23, 2019).

Working alongside nuclear test veteran Douglas Hern to win official recognition for all those who suffered as a consequence of their service to our nation (SPALDING VOICE: Hayes campaigned for test veterans; June 7, 2017).

Persuading Theresa May to announce a children’s Funeral Fund to cover funeral costs (SPALDING VOICE: MP calls for funeral poverty action; December 19, 2018).

All recipients of his annual Christmas card know of the joy to numerous students at the Garth School, Priory School and Gosberton House of producing artworks for the design competition.

Sir John Hayes again deserves our support at this election so that he can continue to serve the people of South Holland and the Deepings with his customary flair for representing us so ably in Parliament.
