LETTER: If you care enough about South Holland, please do stand for election

As we near the start of the General and Local election campaigns I want to make a plea, not just for people to turn out and vote, but to also seriously consider standing for the council.
Whatever your politics, there could be a seat for you. If you care enough about our district to stand up for it and what you believe in then please put your name forward.
This is the first time since 1979 that elections for our council will be held on the same day as the General Election, so there is bound to be a lot more interest in taking part through the ballot box.
I would like to see this reflected by the number of people prepared to stand.
The Conservative Group still have five vacancies to fill, the Independent Group have vacant seats in most wards, Labour, Lib-Dem, Green and UKI Parties all have vacancies in wards across the whole district and, of course, if you are truly Independent there are always vacancies across the whole district because there are no limits on how many candidates can stand.

Leader, South Holland District Council
