Here is a letter without grumbles in it.
I find four reasons to be cheerful:
- The excellent professional service from a teller in Spalding’s Lloyds bank.
- The prettiness of Hedonism’s window display.
- The example of the difference between ‘your’, meaning ‘of you, belonging to you’, and ‘you’re’, short for ‘you are’, which can be seen on Wilko’s community board: “Whether you’re selling your car or raising money for charity, here’s the place to let everyone know.”
- I found a verse in an album, written about 90 years ago. These are the words: “With work, good cheer and kindliness, And laughter up your sleeve, This queer old world’s not half so bad, As some folk would believe.”
