LETTER: Don’t like how medical centre operates? Then leave!

In response to the letter (January 19) regarding the once monthly afternoon closure of Beechfield Medical Centre, has the complainant considered that staff training is essential, not just an afternoon off?

The staff who are not working that afternoon will still have to attend, and in some cases arrange childcare, at an extra cost to them. Or, do you suggest they attend in the evening, after a full day at work?

If, as you are wanting a seven day service, would you like to finance it by way of paying for staff, nurses and doctors, or should they work seven days with no break?

I would also like to take you up on the point of “cavalier and unthought through policy of closure”. I would very much doubt that this is the case. The surgeries are now so closely monitored by the CQC that they have to jump through hoops to please.

If you are so unhappy, that you felt the need to write to the paper, and no doubt, directly to the surgery, then the answer is simple…leave.
Register at one of the other two in town. You are not forced to stay there.
