LETTER: Disgusted over plans

I am writing this email to you to express my disgust at the plans now being put in for more houses to be built in Holbeach.

The problems with this are as follows:

1. There are already 900 new houses being put in by Mr King who seems to be able to build what he wants wherever he wants. He says he’s building a new doctors’ surgery but its just moving old ones into a new building, not making new practices which we need.

2. The infrastructure in Holbeach can’t cope with the amount of people already in Holbeach, with banks closing and there being only hairdressers and fast food places left.

3. There aren’t enough doctors’ surgeries or dental practices in the area, as trying to get to either is nearly impossible.

4. There is an old farm building and grass area that could have been used behind me for a new medical and dental centre but instead they’re putting 35 houses on there. This area is off Northons Lane.

5. Holbeach can’t cope with that many new people, and schools don’t have the places. Even though they say they are building a new primary school, what about the older kids, where are they going to go? UAH won’t have the space.

6. There aren’t the jobs in the area for all these people who would buy these houses.

All this is about is greedy developers making money out of landowners and spoiling the countryside as they don’t have to put up with the extra traffic and noise.

And the greedy council getting money for a roundabout and the silly proposal to put a dual carriageway between the Boston Road roundabout and the new one is crazy as this will cause crazy driving between roundabouts. And, again, the people at the council are not affected by all this development.

It’s so sad that Holbeach is being spoilt by all this housing, which even the low cost housing isn’t being bought by first time buyers but by greedy landlords who then screw money for rent out of people.
