LETTER: Disgusted over Coupland case

Referring to a letter from Phillip James in Spalding Voice August 8, I too was disgusted at the reporting of our local Councillor Peter Coupland.

When I read the original story I was in disbelief that an innocent “off the cuff remark” could be deemed bad behaviour. And as Mr James pointed out, why was the complainant not named?

Earlier this year I had a reason to contact Peter Coupland and asked for his comments/clarification on some local information. Within a couple of hours of me emailing him, he turned up at my front door and gave me the information I had asked for. And he assured me this was correct.

I found him to be very professional and I remarked to my husband that we were lucky to have such a pro-active councillor.

And I have often seen him in our village park, early in the morning, picking up litter and broken bottles that inconsiderate people have left strewn around.

Now this gentleman has had his photo splashed over the media.

This is so typical of local councils being politically correct, but it’s wrong.
