LETTER: Delighted with logo contest

After reading Rachel Mayfield’s report in The Voice (February 5), I have to say that I am so pleased that the Spalding Chamber of Commerce and Spalding Town Centre Management Board have decided to run a competition to find the best design for a new logo for Spalding.

I must say that the entrants so far are of a very high standard, and only recently a young student, Adele Martin came up with an award winning design for the village of Weston Hills.

Full credit to Adele for such an innovative design that sets such a high standard and brings together a local community for something they can take pride in for many years to come.

I note the Spalding logo will be used on letterheads, posters, flyers and, where appropriately on town centre signage.

Some time ago I expressed my disappointment with the missing welcome to Spalding signs and did think the current replacements would only be there on a temporary basis.

As our new town centre manager states ‘first impressions count’ and I am sure the winner of the competition will be a design that will encompass the true value of our market town in the heart of

Lincolnshire and I would like it to be used as a welcome to our town statement on the gateway into our market town.

So, I say well done to all concerned, it’s a great start and I cannot wait to see the winning design commissioned off for manufacturing.
