LETTER: Come on councillors, oppose this unnecessary housing plan

With reference to the article in The Voice (Jan 5) regarding the proposed 78-house development planning application by Woodgate Farms.

I am at a bit of a loss as to whose side Coun Poll is on. It’s a bit like the pantomime. Is he for it? Oh no he isn’t. Oh yes he is.

Having lived in this village for more than 50 years, I would like to ask a few questions.
1. Does the village need 78 houses on this proposed site? I think not.

2. Is the proposed exit from the site (the demolition of the garage) a good idea with the volume of traffic coming and going on to a B road? Approximately two cars per house, delivery vans, fuel lorries, refuse collection, ice cream vendors.
Also this exit is opposite a local public house whose car park is often full and customers have to park on the road, quite legally. If the plans are passed , this exit could cause some congestion.

3. Benefits to the village? Ask local businesses how much difference houses that were built in Fengate Road made. They will probably tell you ‘very little’. As for churches, I wonder how many people from the last build support the churches.
No, we know who it wIll benefit – the landowners, the garage owners and, of course, the developers.

4. Where will all the house owners find jobs? The 78 houses will have approximately 250 people. What about medical care? Are the applicants planning on building a new surgery? If so, where will they find a doctor? There aren’t any. The nearest surgery is Moulton, which is already overpopulated.

So come on Eddy and fellow councillors – put your shoulders to the wheel and vote against these proposals.
