LETTER: Car service can offer transport

Further to your article titled ‘Patients face longer trips’ (May 20 edition), I would like to point out that the South Holland Parish Voluntary Car Service takes people to health and care appointments so we could assist with transport.
We are a charity run wholly by volunteers.
There is a small charge for the service to cover the cost of the volunteers’ mileage travelled, so a trip to Gosberton surgery from Spalding would probably cost only £4 to £5, although this charge is increasing from July 1. Even then it should only cost between £7 and £9.
We have co-ordinators across different parts of the district, so for Spalding and Cowbit patients the number to contact is 07514 971628, Pinchbeck residents please call 07514 971781 or for Weston, Weston Hills and Moulton please call 01775 719290.
We are always looking for volunteer drivers so if you have some time on your hands, access to a vehicle and a clean driving licence please get in touch on 07514 971589 for further information.
