LETTER: Cameras might slow the traffic

Average speed cameras may slow down drivers on the A16, but I know it will not stop people from driving badly.

As a road user, I have driven from Spalding to Peterborough for 50 years and have written off a Ford Anglia.

I was riding a motorcycle at the time, when the car pulled out in front of me at Mason’s Bridge

My front wheel jammed in the front wheel arch of the car, I spun around, right foot still on the foot rest, sat on the bonnet of the car, bounced back and stood by the bike, at 60mph.

The driver’s door was jammed shut due to the chassis bending. I limped for a few days!

Over the years I have seen driving standards go down, few people seem to have read a copy of the Highway Code lately.

An unmarked police car or motorcycle would do more good.
