LETTER: Calling all veterans

Well known locally I am sure you would have heard about Harold Payne – the owner of the Anglia Motel in Fleet Hargate.
Now 85 years of age, this gentleman has been raising funds for armed forces veterans for over 50 years. He has also organised several trips to Normandy to honour those who fell.
At his own cost he has created a memorial garden and his latest goal is to raise a memorial inside this garden.
So, he is calling out to all veterans who have served their country to go along and join him on Sunday, September 21.
Have you served your country? If so it would be great if you could dig your medals out and go along at 10am.
Harold would be delighted to see you there for refreshments and to support him when the “turf is cut” for a new memorial to recognise and remember those who have fallen.
Please encourage all veterans to come along and support this great initiative
