LETTER: Bourne Woods is in a disgusting state

Bourne Woods should be renamed Bourne Dog Toilet.

Today being the first day of the half term holiday I decided to take my five-year-old daughter for a walk in Bourne Woods.

With new walking boots on we set off from the car park and was amazed at the quantity of dog mess, it’s everywhere!

I told my daughter to be careful but, within a couple of minutes it was me that stood in some mess. A few minutes later my daughter stood in some.

For the next half hour we strolled round the woods looking at the ground in an attempt to avoid any more mess instead of the game we had planned which was to see who could spot a squirrel first.

When we finally got back to the car I took my daughter’s boots off and put her in the car. I changed my shoes and then got in myself.

It soon became apparent that the smell in the car was too strong to be coming from the boot so I jumped out of the car to discover that I also had dog mess on my “clean” shoes as some disgusting person had let their dog foul right next to my car in the car park.

There were so many dogs and so much dog mess it made the visit absolutely disgusting.

I have a message for dog owners: “Letting your dog drop its fragrant eggs on the paths, in the grass and in the car park is disgusting!

“It is not alright to let your dog jump up other people and cover them in mud even if you say “he’s only playing” and saying “she’s only a puppy” does not mean I’m happy to have your dog’s snot all over my trousers.

“If you like dog mess so much let you dog do its business in your own garden and not in public spaces!”

A half hour walk resulted in an hour of scrubbing shoes and the mats from my car.

The result is that I will avoid going to Bourne Woods again.
