Surely, when it comes to standing for Parliament on behalf of a defined area, being local matters.
Why then, has the Lib Dem candidate been bussed in from hundreds of miles away? It is astonishing that so many people think they can just swagger into an area which they have never previously visited and expect to win election. I’m quite frankly sick and tired of It.
Although I voted Remain and still think that, in some ways, the EU is a good idea in the long term, I’ll be voting this year for John Hayes based on the enormous amount of time he actually invests in the local community.
Barely a day goes by that I don’t see him having a chat with someone or raising the profile of a charity or initiative etc.
However, If I was going to go elsewhere, at least the Green Party candidate here is actually a local and seems like a decent chap.
Either way, being local counts!
