LETTER: Angela Harrison works hard

Last week I responded in this letters page to the excellent lead that The Voice gave to the issue of off licence proliferation and abuse, asking our elected MP John Hayes to do what he said he would do just nine months ago.

I also noticed how many readers believed proliferation and abuse of a licence was not being addressed by the district council licensing committee led by elected Conservative councillor Angela Harrison, however I have to say that view is wrong.

I sit with Coun Harrison as a councillor (non political) on Crowland Parish Council, and I have to say how hard she works for the people of Crowland and South Holland in her various capacities.

Proliferation and abuse of licensed premised can only be effectively controlled by a change in national law, giving more power to the police and local council officers to work on your behalf.

It’s the job of your elected MP to push for a change in the law, and I have no evidence that our elected MP John Hayes is doing that.

If he is, I ask he let us know what he has done or is doing through the pages of The Voice.
